On my way....

I started the diet officially last Thursday...stuck to it for the entire day.  I won't lie...I was hungry.  But I did it, and the next morning I was scheduled to weigh myself and provide a urine sample.  I had lost 4.6 pounds and was already tracing ketosis!  I know its only water weight, but still...it was very exciting!  I have stuck to the diet now for 4 days, and I weigh in again tomorrow (Monday).  I'm hoping its good news!

Only problem is, I have periodic limb movement, a form of Restless Leg Syndrome.  Now that I'm on this diet, my legs are twitching like crazy!  I cannot sleep because of it!  I will talk to the nurse tomorrow to see what I can take, or do to help alleviate those symptoms.

Night!...

Tomorrow is the big day!

Tis the night before the big weigh-in and sign up to the Dr. Bernstein diet.  It's not cheap, I'll say that!  But I'm hoping that it's because it will work, be effective and the weight will come off.  Plus, they say its a short amount of time, so I guess it's all relative.  I can spend a fortune on Jenny Craig food/fees over a year, or I can spend it all up front for 2 months!

I have been binging like crazy the past couple of weeks - probably not a wise choice, but at least I'm being honest.  I keep thinking I need to eat this, or that, since I won't get to for probably 2 - 3 months, if ever!

To get the appointment, I called the 1-800 number and they explained the fees to me very clearly.  They explained that the consultation would take 1.5 hours, and my appointment is at 6:45 tomorrow morning.  You need to be there 15 minutes early, and have a 5 page medical history completed.  If you don't come with it completed, the appointment will be re-scheduled.  I also had to pay a $50 deposit to ensure I would show up, which would be applied to the consult fee.  The consult fee is $330 and is non-refundable.  It includes program orientation, medical assetment, the manual, recipe book, first week of service and a bottle of Cal-K (which I believe is a calcium/potassiam vitamin).  Then, you can either pay each week ($160/week) or you can buy bundles of 2 - 8 weeks, which gives you a savings.  There are also maintenance fees if you choose to purchase them, but I'm not sure if you can purchase them once you are in maintenance, or when you sign up.

I also have to bring all of my medications, vitamins, etc. that I take, in the bottles, so the nurse/doctor can understand exactly what I'm ingesting.

The B vitamin injections are covered by some benefits.  Unfortuantely, my doesn't cover it.  If it would have been covered, the cost for the injections is 50% of the weekly fee, which would have greatly reduced the cost to me personally.

I am expecting to sign up for the 8 weeks of service, which will be $1,123, plus the consult fee of $330.  Uggh!

I'll post again after tomorrow to give my starting weight, to see how effective this program is, and how long it takes to drop the weight/inches.  'Till then....here's to hoping I will be a Yummy Mummy (instead of a Frumpy Mummy) by Christmas!!!.....

Getting Psyched

Well, it has come to this.  Two babies, 35 pounds heavier than I want to be, working part-time, too tired on my "down" time to exercise, wanting to eat any and all breads, chocolate, pasta, cereal, etc. that I can get my hands on...I have tried Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Weight Watchers Online, Visalis and just good ol' dieting.  Alas, I just cannot stick to a "diet" and cannot lose this weight.  In fact, I keep adding more pounds to the amount I need to lose!  So...after my sister has had such great success on the Dr. B diet (she has lost 50 pounds!!), I am going to sign up as well!

Am I nervous?  Yep!  Do I want to lose the weight?  Yep!  Am I afraid of failure...again?  Yep!

So, I am psyching myself up to start on the Dr. B diet.  I am going to start on October 16 - a Tuesday.  I wanted to start on a Monday, but they only do consultations on Tuesdays & Fridays.  I wanted to be able to weight in on the weekend, but they only work Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:00pm.

My sister told me to start the diet after any social engagements, as its really hard to put yourself into a social setting in the first 2 weeks.  She said I'll be on sugar withdrawal - probably grumpy, headachy, just yucky feeling.  Sugar detox.

I am eating foods that I love for the next week or so, knowing that I won't get to eat them again for a long time.  Probably adding another 5 or more pounds to the total I need to lose by the end of my "binge".

However, I have so much to look forward to, and I want to feel good, sexy, pretty, healthy, energetic for it all.  Going on a family vacation on November 9 to Arizona for 10 days - right in the middle of my Dr. B experience.  Then a family disney cruise in March - which also happens to fall on my 40 birthday!  We are going with another family, and I don't want to spend the 7 days of the cruise, wishing I could hide the fact that I am fat.  Wishing that I had tried just a little harder to lose some weight.  I want to feel okay, lying by the pool in my bathing suit, not embarrassed, shy.  Then in May, 3 of my girlfriends and I are off to Vegas to celebrate our 40th birthdays.

I am hoping to be a Yummy Mommy by the end of this - full of confidence, feeling my old self again, hopefully changing my eating habits, and back into my old clothes, and hopefully some new ones!

I'm not sure if anybody will read this blog.  I am writing it in case anybody else is in my situation...wanting to lose the weight, wondering if this Dr. B diet is worth the money.  I hear all the commercials, sounds amazing.  It is very expensive, but will it work this time?  If anybody is reading this and want to comment - please remember the old saying "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything."  I would love feedback, but remember, I am just a person, but one with feelings, so be kind.....
